Love's Journey

Ciao! This week's theme is "Love's Journey". Our first song was originally recorded by the Everly Brother's and more recently by various artists, but the one by Nazareth from 1975 is my favorite version of the song Love Hurts . Next up we have Tonight's the Night by Rod Stewart from 1976. Now let's listen to Chris Rea with Josephine from 1985. Our next song is Last Dance by Donna Summer from 1979. And now here is Barry Manilow with Mandy from 1974. It is one of the most played songs from the 70s on radio and television. The song was written by Scott English who recorded it in 1971 with the original title Brandy . Manilow's single Mandy reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Now here is Genesis with Your Own Special Way from 1976. Next up is All of Me by John Legend from his 2013 album Love in the Future . Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tamm Terrell from 1966 was a top twenty hit which peaked at number 19 on the Billb...

Surrender to Love

Ciao! This week's theme is "Surrender to Love", and our lineup is 100% Rock. These are not all power ballads, though. For example, this first song is Sabbra Cadabra by Black Sabbath from 1973. It's a cute love song with a hard rock beat. Who knew such sweet lyrics could come from a notorious bad boy like Ozzy Osbourne?

Now let's listen to Everlong by the Foo Fighters from 1997.

Our next song is Hold On by Santana from 1982. Enjoy the romantic lyrics and dance beat, interspersed with some nice guitar riffs in classic Carlos style.

And now here is Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Alvin Bishop from 1975.

Now let's listen to I Remember You by Skid Row from 1989.

Go Your Own Way by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac was released in December 1976 on both sides of the Atlantic. Written and sung by Lindsey Buckingham, it became the band's first top ten in the United States and was ranked as number 120 by Rolling Stone magazine on their list of the Greatest Rock Songs of All Time.

Here is another sweet love song from a rock and roll bad boy, You and Me by Alice Cooper from 1977.

Thank You by Led Zeppelin from 1973 says "If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me."

Next up is Def Leppard with Love Bites from 1987.

Now let's listen to the Moody Blues with Nights in White Satin, which is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Our next song is Still Loving You by the Scorpions.

Layla was written by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon. The famous guitar riff was created by Duane Allman from the Allman brothers who contributed during session recordings. Although originally released in 1970, it was not until its March 1972 re-release that Layla made the top ten in both the US and the UK. It stands at number 27 in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and the riff was number 5 in BBC Radio Two's list of the 100 Best Guitar Riffs of All Time.

That's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed our time together. Join me next week for another hour of Love Songs. Until then, this Marcy Coate from Antenna Web, wishing you a life full of light and love.
