Love's Journey

Ciao! This week's theme is "Love's Journey". Our first song was originally recorded by the Everly Brother's and more recently by various artists, but the one by Nazareth from 1975 is my favorite version of the song Love Hurts . Next up we have Tonight's the Night by Rod Stewart from 1976. Now let's listen to Chris Rea with Josephine from 1985. Our next song is Last Dance by Donna Summer from 1979. And now here is Barry Manilow with Mandy from 1974. It is one of the most played songs from the 70s on radio and television. The song was written by Scott English who recorded it in 1971 with the original title Brandy . Manilow's single Mandy reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Now here is Genesis with Your Own Special Way from 1976. Next up is All of Me by John Legend from his 2013 album Love in the Future . Suddenly Love

Ciao! This week’s theme is “Suddenly Love”. First up is Parlami d’Amore by Giorgia from her 1999 album, Girasole, which means “sunflower”. The title means “speak to me of love”.

Now here is Because I Love from Demis Roussos from 1979.

This week we have a special request from one of our listeners. Paolo would like us to play Suddenly by Billy Ocean from 1984 and he is dedicating it to a very special person in his life, Rossana.

Strada Facendo literally means “going along the road” and this song by Claudio Baglioni is about wanting love intensely, and believing that you will find it somewhere along the way. Here is Strada Facendo from 1981.

Next up is I’ll Fall in Love Again by Sammy Hagar, who came into prominence in the 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose. He then launched a successful solo career, and later replaced David Lee Roth as the lead singer of Van Halen from 1985 to 1986. He returned to the band for a two-year reunion from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, Hagar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. Here is I’ll Fall in Love Again from 1982.

Now let’s listen to one of my favorite songs, Desert Rose by Sting from 1999.

Quanto Ti Amo means “how much I love you”, or “I love you so much”. It is a song by the very popular Italian singer-songwriter Renato Zero, from 2019.

Here is Sunshine of Your Love by Cream from 1967.

Just Like Heaven by The Cure from 1987 was the third single released from their album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. The song became The Cure’s first American hit and reached number forty on the Billboard charts for 1988. The music is beautiful and the lyrics are surrealistic. He is dreaming of a girl who loves him and makes him feel just like heaven, but then he awakes to find himself “alone, above a raging sea that stole the only girl I loved, and drowned her deep inside of me”.

Io Che Amo Solo Te is by Sergio Endrigo from 1962 and it talks about how people love so many different things and they’re always searching for new experiences, but he says “I, who love only you, I will not lose you, I will not leave you”.

Now here is You’re Beautiful by James Blunt from 2004.

Sinéad O’Connor is an Irish singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1980s and achieved worldwide success in 1990 with a new arrangement of Prince’s song, Nothing Compares to You.

My Love by Zucchero is from his 1995 album Spirito di Vino, and it talks about a man who lives in a city where he feels lost, and a love that he fears he will lose.

That’s all for this week! I hope you enjoyed our time together. Join us next time for another hour of Love Songs. This is Marcy Coate from Antenna Web, wishing you a life full of light and love.
