Always

Ciao! This week I have chosen the theme “Always”. To start out, let’s listen to “Never My Love” by The Association from 1967. Next up is “Niente al Mondo” by Dolcenera from 2015. The title means “nothing in the world” and she says there is nothing in the world that she would trade for her love. Our next song is by Belgian tenor Helmut Lotti. The title is “All My Life” and it is a powerful song about a man who will love forever even though he doesn’t know when or if he will see his loved one again. The song was written by Helmut Lotti and Joaquin Rodrigo and was first released by Helmut Lotti in 1995. Now let’s listen to “Forever and Ever” by Demis Roussos from 1973. Our next song is by Eros Ramazzotti from 2003. The title is “Un Emozione Per Sempre” which means “an emotion forever”. It is about a love story that is over but unforgettable, making him remember many happy times, and he says some loves leave their mark on us, for always. Now here is “I Swear” by All 4 One from 1994. “Alway...

My Wish

Ciao! This week I’ve chosen the theme “My Wish” and our lineup features songs that talk about wishing for love, or wanting something to change, or evolve in the relationship. Our first song is “End of the World” by Demis Roussos from 1993.

“Con Te Partirò” (which means “with you I will depart”) by Andrea Bocelli from 1995 is similar to the previous song, as it is a wish to go on a romantic voyage with a loved one, to places that no longer exist.

Our next song is “Fly Me to the Moon”. Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1964, but the voice of Doris Day is so sweet that I chose her version, from 1965.

Who else loves Guardians of the Galaxy? Here is one of the songs from Peter Quill’s playlist “Come and Get Your Love” by the native American band Redbone, from 1974.

Now here is “Vorrei Che Fosse Amore” by Mina from 1968. The title of the song means “I wish it was love”.

Next up is the hauntingly beautiful “She’s Like the Wind” by Patrick Swayze from 1987.

“Se Adesso Te Ne Vai” (which means “if you leave now”) is by the Italian singer-songwriter Massimo Di Cataldo. Released in 2015, it is his wish that his love won’t leave him, but he makes it clear that he won’t wait for her, and that he will start over again.

Our next song is “Hold the Line” by Toto. The song was released as the band's debut single, and was featured on their 1978 album of the same name. The song was a huge success in the U.S.; it reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and number 14 in the UK.

“Per Un’Ora d’Amore”, which means “for an hour of love” by Matia Bazar from 1976. The lyrics say “what I wouldn’t do for an hour of love”.

“I Wish You Peace” by the Eagles from 1975 says “I wish you peace when times are hard, A light to guide you through the dark, And when storms are high and your dreams are low,

I wish you the strength to let love grow on”.

Now let’s listen to “Let's Fall In Love” by Ella Fitzgerald from 1959.

“Per Averti” by Adriano Celentano from 2000 says “to have you I would do anything, except for losing my respect for myself, and if this is what you are asking, I will let you go, but this time I’ll go on, even if something is dying, deep inside of me”.

Next up is “Why Can’t This Be Love” by Van Halen from 1986.

“Stella Gemella”, which means “twin star” or “soul mate” is by Eros Ramazzoti, from 1996. It asks the question, “Where are you, my soul? Without you I am lost”.

“I’d Like To Make It With You” by Bread from 1970 is one of the band’s most beautiful songs, and one of my favorites.
