Always

Ciao! This week I have chosen the theme “Always”. To start out, let’s listen to “Never My Love” by The Association from 1967. Next up is “Niente al Mondo” by Dolcenera from 2015. The title means “nothing in the world” and she says there is nothing in the world that she would trade for her love. Our next song is by Belgian tenor Helmut Lotti. The title is “All My Life” and it is a powerful song about a man who will love forever even though he doesn’t know when or if he will see his loved one again. The song was written by Helmut Lotti and Joaquin Rodrigo and was first released by Helmut Lotti in 1995. Now let’s listen to “Forever and Ever” by Demis Roussos from 1973. Our next song is by Eros Ramazzotti from 2003. The title is “Un Emozione Per Sempre” which means “an emotion forever”. It is about a love story that is over but unforgettable, making him remember many happy times, and he says some loves leave their mark on us, for always. Now here is “I Swear” by All 4 One from 1994. “Alway...

Dancing in Love

Ciao! This week I’ve chosen the theme “Dancing in Love”. First up is “Sway” by Dean Martin from 1954.

Next up is “Lady in Red” by Chris DeBurgh from 1986. It was a huge worldwide hit, going to #1 in 25 different countries.

Now let’s listen to “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. The song is from 1955, with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained”, which explains the song’s title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack, but it is the version by the Righteous Brothers from 1965 that became the jukebox standard.

One of the favorite songs from my youth is “Muskrat Love” by Captain & Tenille. Recorded in 1976, it is about two muskrats, Sammy & Suzy, who are in love, and who like to dance together.

“Heartache on the Dance Floor” by Joe Pardi is a 2016 country western song about a girl that captures a man’s heart as he watches her dancing.

Now here is “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie from the 1983 album of the same name.

“I Don’t Dance” is a song co-written and recorded by country music artist Lee Brice. It was released on February 18, 2014 as the first single from Brice's third studio album of the same name. The lyrics describe a man who thought he would never settle down, who doesn’t like dancing but who finds himself willing to do anything now, with the woman he loves.

Now let’s listen to “When We Dance” by Sting from 2000.

The Drifters released “Save the Last Dance for Me” in 1960. It was written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, with Ben E. King on lead vocals.

Next up is “Baila Morena” from 2001 by Italian singer-songwriter Adelmo Fornaciari, better known by his stage name “Zucchero”. “Morena” is an Italian, Portuguese and Spanish feminine given name derived from the term moreno, meaning brown or brown-haired, and the word “baila” means dance, so he is asking his brown-haired girl to dance with him under the moonlight.

Now here is “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young from 1992.

“You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” by Leo Sayer from 1976 is one of my very favorite songs from that year.

“Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake is from 2016, and one of the best songs from the last decade, in my opinion.

“Dance the Night Away” by Van Halen was their first top 20 U.S. hit, peaking at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is the second song from their 1979 album Van Halen II.

“Crocodile Rock” by Elton John from 1973 is another of my favorite songs from my teen years.

“Could I Have This Dance” is a song recorded by Canadian country music artist Anne Murray. The single was released in August 1980 and became Murray's fifth number one country hit as a solo artist. It went to number one for one week and spent a total of ten weeks on the country chart.
