Synth-Pop Love

Ciao! This week’s theme is “Synth-Pop Love”. Let’s start things off with a song that perfectly expresses the essence of the synth-pop genre. Released in 1980, "Fade to Grey" is by Visage, and it became an instant hit across Europe. Here’s "Vienna" by Ultravox. Did you know that this track was famously used in the film "Billy Elliot"? Let’s listen… Now here is "Shake the Disease" by Depeche Mode. Our next song is the synth-pop anthem "Love Action (I Believe in Love)" by The Human League. And now here's "Talking in Your Sleep" by The Romantics. It was a massive hit in the early '80s, reaching the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Next up is "Secret" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, better known as OMD. Now let’s listen to "Lessons in Love" by Level 42. This song was a huge hit, reaching the top 10 in several countries. Up next, we have a synth-pop classic that's guaranteed to melt your heart. &

Who Loves You

Ciao! The theme of this episode is “Who Loves You?” and our first song has that same name. It’s by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, from their 1975 album of the same name.

Next up is “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison from his 1970 album “Moondance”.

Our next song is “Nient'Altro Che Noi” by the Italian band 883 from 1999. The title of the song means “nothing but us”.

“You Are the Reason” is a song by English singer Calum Scott. It was released in November of 2017 as the second single from his debut album “Only Human”. The song has been streamed over one billion times, and has sold over five million copies worldwide.

And now here is “Woman in Love” by Barbra Streisand from her 1980 album, “Guilty”. The song was written by Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, who received the 1980 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. It is her fourth Platinum record, and is considered her greatest international hit.

Next we have “Una Finestra Tra Le Stelle” by Annalisa from 2015. The title means “a window among the stars”.

“Jump (For My Love)” is a song by the Pointer Sisters, released in April of 1984, as the third single from their tenth studio album Break Out. The song hit the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was the best-selling American dance single of 1984. The song was also a global chart success.

Now let’s listen to “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack from 1969.

Next up is “Due Anime” by Max Pezzali from 2015. The title of the song means “two souls”.

And now here is “A Song For You”, written by Leon Russell for his first solo album in 1970. It has been covered by several artists over the years, but my personal favorite is the one by The Carpenters, from 1972.

Our next song is from Santana, “I Love You Much Too Much” from 1981.

“Il Mio Amore Unico” by Dolcenera from 2009 is a beautiful song. The title means “my only love”, and she says “you will be my only love, space without limits, darkness and light, a perfectly ordered universe, and you will be everything to me”.

"When You Love a Woman" by American rock band Journey is the third track from their 10th studio album, Trial by Fire, and was released as the lead single from that album in September of 1996. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart, where it stayed for four weeks, and number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Now let’s listen to “In Ogni Angolo di Me” by Emma Marrone from 2013. The title of the song means “in every corner of me”.
