Love's Journey

Ciao! This week's theme is "Love's Journey". Our first song was originally recorded by the Everly Brother's and more recently by various artists, but the one by Nazareth from 1975 is my favorite version of the song Love Hurts . Next up we have Tonight's the Night by Rod Stewart from 1976. Now let's listen to Chris Rea with Josephine from 1985. Our next song is Last Dance by Donna Summer from 1979. And now here is Barry Manilow with Mandy from 1974. It is one of the most played songs from the 70s on radio and television. The song was written by Scott English who recorded it in 1971 with the original title Brandy . Manilow's single Mandy reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Now here is Genesis with Your Own Special Way from 1976. Next up is All of Me by John Legend from his 2013 album Love in the Future . Unforgettable

Ciao! This week I’ve chosen the theme “Unforgettable” so let’s start off with a song with that exact title. This one is by Nat King Cole from 1951.

Next up is “Il Regalo Più Grande” by Tiziano Ferro. The title means “the greatest gift” and it is from his fourth studio album, “Alla Mia Età”, which means “at my age”. The track was released as the album's second single in January of 2009.

Now let’s listen to “I’ll Be Over You” by Toto from 1986. The lyrics say “as soon as forever is through, I’ll be over you”.

“Ancora Tu” which means “still you” was released by Italian singer songwriter Lucio Battisti in 1976. He says “you are still you, unfortunately the only, still you, incorrigible, but unfortunately leaving you is not possible”.

Our next song  is “Where Do I Begin”. It was first introduced in the 1970 film Love Story. The music is by Francis Lai and the original lyrics were by Carl Sigman, but the film’s producer rejected the lyrics, so it was only used as an instrumental theme. Andy Williams eventually recorded the new lyrics and took the song to number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Easy Listening chart.

Now here is “Albachiara” by Italian singer songwriter Vasco Rossi, from 1979. The title of the song literally means “clear dawn”, and the lyrics say “you are clear like a sunrise and fresh like the air”.

Next up is “Photograph” by Ringo Starr from 1973.

Now let’s listen to “Tua Per Sempre” by Elisa from 2018. The title of the song means “yours forever”.

Here is another great song by Toto, this time from 1988, entitled “Stop Loving You”.

Now here is “Quanto Tempo e Ancora” by Biagio Antonacci The literal meaning of the title is “how long and again”, but what he is actually saying is something like “a long time, and then some more”, which is how long he says that she will remain in his heart.

Our next song is “My Eyes Adored You” by Frankie Valli. The single was released in the US in November 1974 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 in March of 1975. It also went to number 2 on the Easy Listening chart, and Billboard ranked it as the No. 5 song for 1975.

“Three Times a Lady” was written by the Commodores lead singer Lionel Richie. It was the first of two singles from the Commodores album Natural High. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart in June of 1978 at number 73. Eight weeks later, it reached number 1, where it remained for two weeks. It also reached the top of the R&B chart, soul, and country charts. It was the first number 1 single for The Commodores, and it also reached the top of charts in the UK, the Philippines, South Africa, and Canada, and was in the top 5 on charts in 25 other countries. Due partly to the popularity of this song, the band was named the top R&B group of the year by Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Cashbox. Billboard also named them the number 3 pop group of 1978. "Three Times a Lady" was nominated for two Grammy awards, and it  won a 1979 American Music Award and a People's Choice Award.

Now let’s listen to “Romantica Ossessione” by Alessandra Amoroso from 2010. The title means “romantic obsession”.

Our next song is “Tangerine” by Led Zeppelin from 1970.
