Love's Journey

Ciao! This week's theme is "Love's Journey". Our first song was originally recorded by the Everly Brother's and more recently by various artists, but the one by Nazareth from 1975 is my favorite version of the song Love Hurts . Next up we have Tonight's the Night by Rod Stewart from 1976. Now let's listen to Chris Rea with Josephine from 1985. Our next song is Last Dance by Donna Summer from 1979. And now here is Barry Manilow with Mandy from 1974. It is one of the most played songs from the 70s on radio and television. The song was written by Scott English who recorded it in 1971 with the original title Brandy . Manilow's single Mandy reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Now here is Genesis with Your Own Special Way from 1976. Next up is All of Me by John Legend from his 2013 album Love in the Future . Power Ballads

Ciao! Our first song is “Miles Away” by Winger from 1990.

Here is another power ballad from 1990: “More Than Words Can Say” by the Canadian band Alias. The song is the second single from their debut album, and it became a No. 2 hit in the United States and topped the charts in Canada for four weeks.

Next up is “Love is Only a Feeling” by the English rock band The Darkness, from 2003.

Now let’s listen to “Harden My Heart” by Quarterflash from 1981.

Our next song is “Don’t Know What You Got (Til It’s Gone)” by the glam metal band Cinderella. The song is from their second album “Long Cold Winter”. Released in August 1988, it was their most successful single, peaking at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

“Love Walked In” by the English rock band Thunder was released in 1991 as the last single from their 1990 album Backstreet Symphony. It is the band's second highest charting UK single, reaching number 21.

“Fly To The Angels” by Slaughter from 1990 was a world-wide hit, charting #1 on four separate charts including Mainstream Rock. It is also the only Slaughter single to go platinum, and therefore their greatest commercial success.

Next up is “The Flame” by Cheap Trick from 1988.

Our next song is “I Found Someone” by Cher from 1987. Cher has always been a great performer with a powerful voice, and this song is the perfect vehicle for demonstrating exactly that.

Now let’s listen to “Reason To Live” by Kiss from 1987.

It’s a little amusing to hear heavy metal bands singing sweet, sentimental songs like this one. Well yes, it’s a power ballad, but the lyrics are simple and romantic. Here is “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue from 1985.

Here’s another song with sweet, romantic lyrics: “When I See You Smile” by hard rock band Bad English from 1989.

“Is This Love” by the British-American rock band Whitesnake was released in 1987 as the second single from their self-titled album. The single was a hit for Whitesnake, reaching number nine on the UK Singles Chart, and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100.
