Always

Ciao! This week I have chosen the theme “Always”. To start out, let’s listen to “Never My Love” by The Association from 1967. Next up is “Niente al Mondo” by Dolcenera from 2015. The title means “nothing in the world” and she says there is nothing in the world that she would trade for her love. Our next song is by Belgian tenor Helmut Lotti. The title is “All My Life” and it is a powerful song about a man who will love forever even though he doesn’t know when or if he will see his loved one again. The song was written by Helmut Lotti and Joaquin Rodrigo and was first released by Helmut Lotti in 1995. Now let’s listen to “Forever and Ever” by Demis Roussos from 1973. Our next song is by Eros Ramazzotti from 2003. The title is “Un Emozione Per Sempre” which means “an emotion forever”. It is about a love story that is over but unforgettable, making him remember many happy times, and he says some loves leave their mark on us, for always. Higher and Higher Tonight

Ciao! This week I’ve chosen the theme “Higher and Higher Tonight”, and our first song is “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from Walt Disney’s The Lion King, performed and composed by Elton John, with lyrics by Tim Rice. The hit song peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Next up is “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton from 1977.

Our next song is “Quella Carezza della Sera”, by the New Trolls from 1978. The title means “that caress of the evening”.

Now let’s listen to “All Night Long” by Lionel Richie from 1983.

“We’ve Got Tonight” was written by American rock music artist Bob Seger, from his 1978 album “Stranger in Town”. The single charted twice for Seger, and was developed from a prior song that he had written. Further versions charted in 1983 for Kenny Rogers as a duet with Sheena Easton, and again in 2002 for Ronan Keating. Here is the original version from Bob Seger.

Next up is “Io non abito al mare” by Francesca Michielin from 2018. The title means “I don’t live by the sea”.

Now here is “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight” by Genesis from 1986.

Here’s another great 80s song, “Tonight I’m Yours (Don’t Hurt Me)” by Rod Stewart from 1981.

In Italian the word “tonight” is “stasera”, and here is a song with that title, by Vasco Rossi from 1988.

Now let’s listen to some classic rock by Van Halen, with “Feel Your Love Tonight” from 1978.

Higher Love is a 1986 song by English singer Steve Winwood. It was the first single released from his fourth solo album, “Back in the High Life''. It was written by Winwood and Will Jennings, and the female vocals on the song were performed by Chaka Khan, who also appeared in the promotional music video. "Higher Love" was Winwood's first Billboard Hot 100 number-one song, topping the chart for one week. It also spent four weeks atop the US Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart and earned two Grammy Awards. It peaked at number 13 in the UK, and reached number one in Canada.

Next up is “Higher and Higher” performed by Howard Huntsberry from the 1989 film “Ghostbusters 2”.

Here is another song from a movie soundtrack, “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes, from the 1982 Film “Officer & A Gentleman”.

Now let’s listen to “Let’s Make a Night to Remember” by Bryan Adams from 1996.
