Synth-Pop Love

Ciao! This week’s theme is “Synth-Pop Love”. Let’s start things off with a song that perfectly expresses the essence of the synth-pop genre. Released in 1980, "Fade to Grey" is by Visage, and it became an instant hit across Europe. Here’s "Vienna" by Ultravox. Did you know that this track was famously used in the film "Billy Elliot"? Let’s listen… Now here is "Shake the Disease" by Depeche Mode. Our next song is the synth-pop anthem "Love Action (I Believe in Love)" by The Human League. And now here's "Talking in Your Sleep" by The Romantics. It was a massive hit in the early '80s, reaching the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Next up is "Secret" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, better known as OMD. Now let’s listen to "Lessons in Love" by Level 42. This song was a huge hit, reaching the top 10 in several countries. Up next, we have a synth-pop classic that's guaranteed to melt your heart. &

This week’s theme is “Feelings”, and our first song has that same title, but in Italian. It’s “Emozioni” by Lucio Battisti, from 1970.

Our next song is "Could It Be Magic", by Barry Manilow. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time. Released in 1973, the melody was inspired by Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C minor.

Mina, the queen of Italian pop, brings us the next heartwarming track, "Quando L’Amore Ti Tocca" from 1981. The title of the song means “When Love Touches You”.

Next up is Morris Albert with "Feelings" (released in 1974 from the album of the same name).

Now let’s listen to Claudio Baglioni with "Questo Piccolo Grande Amore". The song was released in 1972 from the album of the same name. The title means “This little, great love”.

The Stylistics bring their signature smooth sound to our lineup with "You Make Me Feel Brand New". Released in 1974 from the album "Let's Put It All Together", this ballad is a timeless declaration of love.

Styx takes the stage with a power ballad that's bound to tug at your heartstrings. "Babe" (released in 1979 from the album "Cornerstone").

Zucchero, the Italian blues maestro, brings us a gem with "Diamante" 1992 from the album "Through the Eyes of Love". “Diamante” means “diamond”.

Next up is Genesis with "Hold On My Heart", released in 1992 from the album "We Can't Dance".

Gino Paoli adds a touch of nostalgia with the Italian classic "il Cielo in Una Stanza" from 1956. The title of the song means “Heaven, in a Room”.

Now let’s listen to Bryan Adams with "Heaven". The song was released in 1984 from the album "Reckless".

Our last song in this week’s lineup is the unforgettable "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. Released in 1986 from the "Top Gun" soundtrack, the song was written by Italian composer Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock for the 1986 film Top Gun. It was performed by American new wave band Berlin. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1986.
