Always

Ciao! This week I have chosen the theme “Always”. To start out, let’s listen to “Never My Love” by The Association from 1967. Next up is “Niente al Mondo” by Dolcenera from 2015. The title means “nothing in the world” and she says there is nothing in the world that she would trade for her love. Our next song is by Belgian tenor Helmut Lotti. The title is “All My Life” and it is a powerful song about a man who will love forever even though he doesn’t know when or if he will see his loved one again. The song was written by Helmut Lotti and Joaquin Rodrigo and was first released by Helmut Lotti in 1995. Now let’s listen to “Forever and Ever” by Demis Roussos from 1973. Our next song is by Eros Ramazzotti from 2003. The title is “Un Emozione Per Sempre” which means “an emotion forever”. It is about a love story that is over but unforgettable, making him remember many happy times, and he says some loves leave their mark on us, for always. Now here is “I Swear” by All 4 One from 1994. “Alway...

The theme of this week’s episode is “Remember” and our first song is “The Way We Were” by Barbra Streisand from the 1974 movie of the same title.

“You Were Always on My Mind” by Willie Nelson from his 1982 album “Always on My Mind” was written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher, and Mark James. It was first released by Gwen McCrae in 1972. There are over 300 recorded releases of the song, including versions by Brenda Lee, Elvis Presley, John Wesley Ryles, and the Pet Shop Boys. Willie Nelson's recording went almost immediately to number one on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, spending two weeks on top and a total of 21 weeks on the chart. It also reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on that chart for 23 weeks. Nelson's version resulted in three Grammy Awards in 1983, and various other awards over the years. Here is “You Were Always on My Mind” by Willie Nelson.

“Mi Ritorni in Mente” by Lucio Battisti from his 1970 album “Emozioni”. It is about lost love, and remembering how sweet it was, but in remembering it is even sweeter to him now that it was back then, because the one he loved - now belongs to someone else.

Now let’s listen do “Do You Remember” by Phil Collins from 1989.

“Ricordati di Me”, which means “Remember Me” is a 1988 song by Antonello Venditti. He is asking his former love to remember him, to think of him when she is alone. He says “I am nothing without love. You are my regret, and my pain”.

Our next song is “When We Were Young” by the English singer-songwriter Adele, from 2015.

Enrico Ruggeri released “Il Primo Amore Non Si Scorda Mai” in 2016. The title of the song means “the first love is never forgotten” and when he remembers his, he recalls words, songs, feelings, an intense perfume, and other things that he says perhaps never really existed in the same way that he remembers them.

Next up is “You Want to Make a Memory” by Bon Jovi from 2007.

“Photographs & Memories” by Jim Croce from 1972 is one of my favorite songs by the artist, and it’s perfect for this week’s theme.

“Fiore di Maggio” by Fabio Concato from 1984 is about remembering everything, in the smallest detail, about when and where he fell in love. The title means “flower of May”.

Now let’s listen to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns & Roses from 1987.

Next up is “September” by- Earth, Wind & Fire was released as a single in 1978. Initially included as a track for The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1, "September" reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

Now here is “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison from 1976.

How about some heavy metal, now? Here is “Lost Love” by Judas Priest from the 2008 album “Nostradamus”.
